How to make your lightbox

I have posted that in my deviantArt account, but why not post here? :P So do you think you would need lot of bucks to have your own lightbox? you are wrong!

- If you don't find a fruit box, you can get some old sweepers and make a box, or buy some boards in artstores and glue it as a box.
- You can buy the glass, or use from that old window that your neighbour is throwing away (I did :P). You can also buy an acrylic board in glass stores (use to be cheap). Use some sell tape in the corners.
- Use a dark glass or don't look straight to the light. Focus in the drawing, don't look to the light. Strong light can damage your eyes. If the light still strong, you can use another glass part and/or a paper sheet between the glasses.
- the ideal glass thickness is more than 6mm. Thicker = safer. Tempered glass is even better!
- don't press too much the glass surface (ie "rest" your chest). A thick glass could suport your weight, but the box could? avoid accidents, just... don't!!

---------------------------------------------------
I made this 7 years ago (I'm feeling old right now...), I had to hand a work with a ridiculous deadline and no money for equipments or tools; then this was the best way to clean the sketches, since I had not a good computer at this time to help.

Well, 7 years after and I still using my "lightbox" to clean my sketches, when I'm not doing this digitally as I explain in my digital clean up sketch tutorial. I dont feel any need to buy a new one, since this one still working perfectly. Today I see how rough it looks, but it's very effective besides the look :D

EDIT: I'm following an user suggestion to mention about the warmth... well sweeties, remember to use a low capacity bulb and a ceramic socket.
- High capacity bulbs can get high temperatures and catch fire if you leave it closer to papers, clothes, etc. If you use a strenght bulb, don't forget to use a ceramic socket and leave something under the bulb, like a glass plate or a marble, for example. This one I've used a 50W eletronic lightbulb (less warmth) and a ceramic socket, then no worries from me.

  1. Legal, gostei dessa de usar um caixote e vidro! =D
Eu costumava colocar um abajur embaixo da mesa de vidro da sala, mas sempre tinha que desmontar tudo nas horas das refeições :/
